QR Code Generator

Generate QR codes for URLs, text or any content. Download as SVG or PNG. No registration required.

Format

When QR codes add real value

QR codes bridge the gap between print and digital — no typing required.

Print & business cards

On business cards, flyers or packaging, a QR code leads directly to a landing page, shop or contact form — without typing a URL.

Events & check-in

Conference badges, tickets, restaurant menus — one scan replaces a long URL and speeds up check-in considerably.

Physical locations

Shop signage, product labels, stickers or exhibition displays: QR codes send customers instantly to product pages, videos or booking forms.

SVG or PNG — which format to choose?

The right format depends on where the QR code will be used.

SVG for print

Scalable Vector Graphics resize to any dimension without losing quality. Always choose SVG for business cards, banners and large-format print — no pixelation at any size.

PNG for digital use

PNG is pixel-based and ready for email, presentations, websites and social media. Nearly all image editors and platforms support PNG files directly.

Size and readability

The minimum reliable print size is 2×2 cm. This generator uses medium error correction — the code can still be scanned if up to 15% of it is covered or damaged.

QR codes bridge print and digital — add one to a business card, poster, packaging or menu and visitors jump straight to your website, product page or contact form. This free generator creates QR codes for any URL, plain text or other content. Choose between SVG (scalable, ideal for print) or PNG (ready for web and presentations). No account required, no watermark.

Frequently asked questions about QR codes

How large should a QR code be for reliable scanning?+
The minimum recommended print size is 2×2 cm (roughly 0.8×0.8 inches). Anything smaller risks scan failures on older cameras. For materials viewed from a distance, scale up — at 1 metre distance aim for at least 10×10 cm.
Can I use a QR code for something other than a URL?+
Yes. This generator supports plain text, email addresses, phone numbers or any other text string. However, most real-world use cases are URLs pointing to a landing page, product or contact form.
Is there a limit to how much data a QR code can hold?+
Standard QR codes hold up to around 4,000 characters. Short URLs work best — they produce simpler codes that scan faster. If your URL is long, use a URL shortener before generating the QR code.
Do I need an internet connection for a QR code to work?+
The QR code itself is just a pattern encoding text. Scanning it does not require a connection. However, if it contains a URL, loading that URL requires an internet connection as normal.
Are there GDPR/DSGVO considerations for QR codes?+
The QR code itself is not a GDPR issue. The destination URL may be — if it triggers analytics scripts, sets cookies or collects personal data on arrival, the target page needs a cookie banner and privacy policy.
